This the first that I have herd about a big race at Kamikaze. There were no posts about this race on any of the other forums and looking back in this one I can only find that a tentative date was set on July 21st and it wasn’t even in the Off Road Racing thread it was buried in the Kamikaze Race Track thread. I don’t think that any one from VMAR or at least no one on the BOD was even aware of the endurance race this weekend.
In response to your question ”Why don't you promote the offroad events around the lower mainland. All VMAR representatives say that they want to bring all racers together, make it better racing for everybody, etc etc.... Is VMAR still standng for what they said they are standing for, or have things changed?”
We can’t promote an event if we don’t know about it. VMAR is dedicated to bringing all racers together to making racing better for every one. I will talk with the other members of the VMAR BOD and see what we can do about the work party on Saturday.
I think that part of the attendance problem that Kamikaze is having is because of the restricted times that the track can be used. I under stand that the BOD’S hands are tied and there isn’t any thing that can be done about that right now, but Saturday is not a good day for racing ass a lot of people work on that day. But what can be done is to post race dates and events in all the forums VMAR, RC Pitstop and R-C Tech.

Wed the bobcat will be there for final cleanup. So if all goes well it's on for Sunday.

Just out of curiosity, why is the track closed Wednesday nights and Sunday between 9 and 4? *edit: The track looks beautiful by the way - well done everyone! Hopefully only a few more weeks until I can make it out to see for my self. *edit 2: ok, I misread the track times But why only those times then - I thought the track was supposed to be open some pretty generous hours?

We are on probation. Once the city of New West is happy with all the work that has been done, and probation is over, then the track times will be improved. It all takes time.

sorry guys, I ride a bike around 18 acres of property. needless to say, I got soaked last night. I went to get changed and my feet were whiter than normal and had these funny crinkles. A shower, some coffee and a snack later. I just couldn't get enough poop to go get wet and mucked up. and new toys arrived in the mail today. pipe is back to fm radios again it's only an mx3 but I have like 8 sets of crystals and a couple 3 ch rx.

What is the size of the track? Judging from lane width, it looks about 60 feet by 50 feet. Is that right?
How about track running length - the distance a car has to go to get around the track? My guess is 250 - 300 ft.

My guess is 250 - 300 ft. The track is 100' by 70' and the lanes are about 12' wide. I have not measured the exact running length. But with a quick calculation I estimate it to be vary close to 500'.

Are you sure? The lanes in front of the drivers stand would need to be 16 feet wide for the track to be 100 feet long. With 12 foot wide lanes, the track would be about 75 to 80 feet.

Well turnout was awesome. I wish more would come to Kamikaze. We put alot of blood and sweat into Kamikaze only to have R/C community turn their backs on our track. More people showed up at riverside then i have seen at any local race in a long time. I will be at Kamikaze on Saturday and i hope all the monsters that showed up to riverside can make an appearance in Coquitlam.
