I have a Megatech Juicebox AC/DC Timer Quick Charger but I don't have any instruction guide with it; does anyone know how this thing is supposed to work? It has a trickle light but I dont know if this feature works or if I can only quick charge and not slow charge. The charge light goes off after a few minutes but wAy before battery should be charged. What's up?

are the battereies brand new? First time being charged?
They may be false peaking. You'll need to froce a charge. Many new chargers can't do this but the old ones can.
RaceTech or your LHS will probably do this for free if it's the problem. Or find a cheap charger that doesn't have peak detection. But you then have to watch the batterey carefully. Once it gets warm take it off of the charger.

I think that both of my batteries are at least 2 years old and the one that came with the truck has always been quick- charged. I took the battery off the charger once when ti just got warm and both batteries ran the truck 6 and 4 minutes respectively. Last night I discharged them each ( after running the truck till it wouldn't move) for at least one hour (15minute timer several times)One I could get down to 1 volt, the other got dwn to 2 or 3 and Igave up. Then I charged them for 25 minutes each which at 3,5 amps is the approximate time tocharge 1500 mah batteries. Both batteries were warm after 15 minutes and quite warm after 25 minutes. As soon as it stops raining I will try to see if the batteries work any longer than yesterday. If not then what?

ok possible problem
From what I am aware of, I don;t run electric myself, but a 1500Mah battery should not be charged at a rate faster then 1.5 amps. I could be wrong so someone else please chime in.
Plus, the slower the charge the more of a charge the battery takes. For longer run times.

no offense Chef, but dump the timer charger. they are not very accurate and you end up guessing. a decent auto peak charger is the way to go and you can find deals.

Thanx Pipeous, I just keep getting the idea that I picked the wrong time(financially speaking) to get into such an expensive hobby! Now I need a new charger, No wonder my wife took away my Visa Card.

A good charger can do more than just your rc's. Roger explained that one to me a long long time ago. I have one that I can charge my full size car battery, I use it to charge and condition my batteries for my black and decker versa pack tools, etc etc etc. I am sure you could use rechargeable batteries in a lot of household stuff, let alone the rc toys. may seem expensive but if you sold that charger for say $40 and added another $50 and got a decent peak charger, it isn't that much. a power supply for non ac/dc charger is as easy as converting an old computer power supply (I can provide the info if you need, it is super easy and you can find free power supplies all over)
