well im thinking of building a parking lot racer (non groomed concrete parking lots) and throwing in my SS5800. but im wondering if i should go with a 1/12 scale or find a cheap 1/10 scale direct drive car.
the 1/12 i can get one with a broken chassis and build my own. (i sure wished i kept that broken tamiya 1/12 scale racing vw golf, only needed to fix the chassis)
but would a 1/12 scale have enough ground clearence or should i pick something else (im just looking for blazing speed)

12th scale like the pan car? those are made for carpet racing. very tough to drive on concrete/asphalt etc. as they tend to spin out. an xray 12th scale tc, yokomo or even an hpi mini would be a better choice for 12th scale but I'd say go 10th scale so you will have similar cars to run with.

well what 1/10 scale car would you sudject that simple, and i can buy used for cheap? im fine with running a 2wd car as my first rc car was a tamiya vw racing golf with some foams.
whats the highest ground clearence of a 1/12 pan car?

You don't want to run high ground clearence on a 12th. You wanna run them LOW!

don't waste time with the 12th scale. get a tc3. you could find an hpi somewhere cheap if you want to save money.

well with the tc3 its 4wd and everything is sealed, i would much rather have a two gear direct drive 2wd car and be able to instently see any gear problems. and if i break even the chassis its simple to replace as its just a flat peice of material.
i just love the simplicity of the 1/12 pan cars. (i would even take out the rear suspended pod and make it one solid car.)

see just another example of a person that doesn't actually want an opinion but some words to help them justify making a bad decision.
I am sure you know best. have fun with your 12th scale, you allready had your mind made up before you posted the original post.

im sorry you guys, i was sort of set towards a 1/12 scale pan car because it was what i started with and was wanting to build one again. i was drawn towards the 1/12 scale also because i can get a roller 1/12 scale for cheap used. my main question at the start of this was if i should get a 1/12 pan car or a tc3 type car to go out and have some speed runs on a ungroomed surface (nothing with anything with larger then 5mm pebbles, thats why i asked if it would be able to have 7mm of ground clearence, i already knew the tc3 could get that high.)
im sorry if i wasted any of your guys' time with my posts. if i came across a bit biased it true i was slightly because of the price and my history with 1/12 pan cars.
if you guys realy think a tc3 would take the bl power better and be better for what im wanting to run on, ill seriously look into it.
i seriously thank you guys for the help you've given me.
