Some people have told me about the "spit "thing. Iguess there is no formula for how long you can run the engine , but if it's not leaned right out can you drive it for a few tanks of gas or should you drive it , then let it cool off , then drive again. Are the digital temp gauges worth it for peace of mind?

yes a temp guage is worth it . the spit test is just a ballpark . i don't know about your engine but a .21 size should be around 220-230F i believe . You can get a temp guage for about $40 and it can save you hundreds of dollars . Buy a temp guage once and you will not have to buy a engine twice . plus you can tune it to get the max performance out of your engine. I was running my engine at 212F before I got my temp guage ( I too just used the spit test ) now I can lean it out abit more and notice the difference in performance just from those 10-15 degrees .
