Do you need a steering servo saver in elecrtic Trucks or only nitro. Is the sevro saver the big white plastic lookin' disk that attaches to the sevo or is it a whole assembly with several parts? How much for a steering servo & saver for Stampede? Should I only ask one question per thread? Thanx

a servo saver is always good. some rc's have them built into the steering mechanism while others use one mounted on the servo itself.
the built in types are usually a spring loaded post. if the wheel takes a hit from say a cartwheel roll of the rc, and the steering servo is trying to turn the other way, the spring will give away instead of stripping servo gears. many of these built in types are also adjustable.
the usual is a servo saver on the servo itsel. these look like thick servo horns (probably the plastic white thing you mentioned) but inside is a spring mechanism to do exactly the same thing as above. it could be a couple different ideas along the lines of springs inside but they all perform the same type of function
if you don't have one, put one on. servos can still strip with a saver, but it sure helps prevent it. and changing a servo horn is much easier than opening a servo to replace gears.

Thanx, I'll buy one with the saver 'cause I'm pretty sure I'll wipe-out with this truck alot until I get used to it. Then I'll really Bash it.

I own a 'pede and if you don't have a servo saver you'll be on your way to racetech every few days to buy new servo gears. Also i have never seen a servo come with a saver. the best one i have used is by traxxas. It is just the replacement for the stock piece. I have spent 15 dollars on an aluminum servo saver and there is no difference. Also the servo that i have is a great match for the pede and it's quite cheap as well. Also i have found that if you don't have a servo saver and you take a crash you just might break the horn if they are pretty flimsy.
Servo: Futaba S3010 approx $30 Saver: Traxxas Part #1844 Approx. $5

im running a metal gear servo (hopefully soon, its being brought in from the east) and going to run the stock stampede servo saver and see how it stands up to the new servo and my new motto (drive it like you stole it) so it will be bashed hard.

I'm looking at the high torque servo from Traxxas and a standard servo saver too. I' wondering what they cost at a Canadian store in Canadian dollars. I know they're $28 and $5US respectively but after shipping and paypal and waiting, oh the waaiiting.... Maybe it's just better to go buy local and pick-up right away and start bashing?
