Just a reminder. this saturday will be the first night for indoor racing at savage. actual racing with prizes and such.
registration starts at 5 pm, racing starts at 6 pm and goues until 10 pm.
we will start the series out with 1/18 scale on road and off road. we will be setting up jumps and obstacles on the carpet track for the off road vehicles.
basically we are looking at classes as follows
on road "nearly" stock (who has a stock car anymore)
on road modified
off road nearly stock
off road modified
other classes and scales will be coming soon but this gets us going. if enough people show up with a class (hello tamiya mini people, this track is perfect for them), we will accomodate
for the record, I am running the racing, not savage rc. they are supplying the transponder system and place for us to race and they will be manning the store to keep us going. I will run in one class and delegate a race caller (I have enough volunteers).
race fees will be $5 per class. $2 goes to the track for use of the track and transponders, the balance goes into a pot for the purchase of prizes to be given out. the more people racing, the better the pot. it will also break down to an amount per class too, dependant on how many drivers in each class. not to worry, math was my best subject in school hehe.
those of you that came out and raced slot cars when I ran racing at Apollo know I am into a fun series. I am toying with rules similar to the way I ran the slot cars. this is to get new people out and introduce racing. it will take me a couple weeks to learn the drivers. for the first couple weeks I might not be running an rc to ensure everything is running smooth and to assess driver skills. I like to group drivers based on skill levels to even the playing field.
there will be no mains, every race you do counts to the total points. person with the most points at the end wins, second most gets second etc. we will keep track of points overall in the season and lap times and all kinds of stats for you to look over. a season total will be figured out this format allows even new drivers a chance to win as you are grouped with equal drivers and if you win within your group, you get points.
don't worry we will do something for those fast guys too, but a few of the fast guys from slot cars are fast guys in rc's too (Brett and Dave spring to mind) and they like the format too cuz it's all in good fun
ladies and gentlemen... start your engines
please show up early this saturday for registration to help get classes and such worked out. I am really looking forward to this and hope to see you
