I am wondering about what classes you have on a regular basis for racing. I am thinking about getting a new truck, we have one old Traxxas stampede right now. I know there is a monster truck class, but is that mainly 1/8 scale? Could the stampede race in that, even if it is 1/10?
Regarding a new truck that I plan on getting, I am thinking of an HPI MT2. Would it be easy to race this one, or do people generally race the bigger 1/8 ones? Does the MT2 being 4WD pose any problems with wanting to race it?
The other one I was thinking of was a HPI firestorm (2wd 1/10 scale). Is this better for racing, in terms of people to race against if 4wd isn't allowed?
Any info would help. THanks.

hi , sorry for not answering sooner ... didn't see your post for some reason.
The answer for the first part of your question is that the club will put you in the most apropiate class if you hapen to have a vehicle that people don't race on a regular basis.
About the new truck...most people (100% of them) as far as I've seen have the 1/8 Truggy rather than the 1/10. About the chasis you may buy... we can help you pick the corect one that you will enjoy months and years from now.
Last part of your question... if you are thinking about 2wd consider only these 3 vehicles: Associated rc10gt, Losi XXX-NT, Mugen MST-1. MY opinion is you shouldn't buy anything HPI for racing as there are othervehicles out there made for the purpose of racing for the same price.

thanks for the reply. the 1/8 truggies are out of my price range, 1/10 seems to be more appropriate. However, for the 2WD 1/10 ones you listed, so you are saying no one is racing those at the track? And my last question, is 4WD or 2WD more popular?
thanks!

4wd Buggy & Truggy are equaly popular with a tad more buggies.
I'll have some supper deals on some truggies... if you can stop by to show you...
Yes, nobody is racing the 2wd... although there are people who own them but they never seem to get more than 3 of them together at one time.
4wd Buggy & Truggy is where it's at.

I think it is too...
I drove the MBX5 for 4 years... then last year with a race to go in the season I bought a slightly used X5 Prospec.
My friend Philip has an X5 R and it's at the shop just sitting here for now on display if you want to see it.
I'm building the MBX5T Prospec and it's UNREAL... Mugen made lots of supper small changes to the parts but they are still interchangeble with any X5 series buggy or truggy.
I got the truggy (almost built) at Race Tech on display too.

With a little luck I should also have a MBX5-T Prospec ready to go for the second race of the season.. if that fails, I'll still be out with my MBX5 Prospec (not the R ). MUGEN!
