electric or nitro? scale and class? (1/8 scale, monster truck, stadium truck etc) price range?
If your interested in off-road theres 2 popular classes now, 1/8th buggy and monster truck. There is also stadium truck, electric buggy and others. Depending on the money your willing to spend u should be looking at around $600+ to get a good racing rig but there are some cheaper options. Specify what you want to race for more help.

600 huh? Im thinking nitro buggy from what i read. Buggys look cooler and nitro sounds better than electric. Guess im gonna have to save up a couple ei checks before i get into it.

well the price range varies depending on the guality, racing potential etc. There are rtr kits that come with an engine and radio which would probably be the cheapest for you. You could always upgrade the engine and radio if you feel you need more features. Just look around on the internet and read up alot. OFNA makes a lot of buggies but one of the best buggies for racing now is the mugen mbx5.

I have $500 into my setup. it is very competitive. you don't need the best of the best to race.
many rtr type buggies are good. there is a sweet deal on a mugen xr works on the forum here. sweet buggy. I bought a used hyper 7 and did some maintenance and work to get it ready. I dnf'd today but that was a set of broken servo gears and my fault.
GS Storm, Ofna, Hot Bodies all have entry level rtr kits that will be right in there with a little time and tuning in the range you ask. I ran a Storm rtr last year and it did well. and as time goes on, you can add goodies to taste. I like to make my own hop ups...

Parts for the storm were no problem. racetech carries parts for the storm and I think team one does as well.
I was always right in there with the storm, I even won with it. the stock 21 p/s motor was a great powerplant, then I put an hpi 25 in so I could use rotostart.
you need to get the pro shock towers. the rtr ones bend like tinfoil
