CamRC kamikaze Raceway 2007
Welcome to the camrc kamikaze Raceway thread for the up coming season
First will have a short Overview of things accomplished in 2006
2006 was a big year for the club we had lots of upgrades done at the track
1) AMB lap counting system transponders refurbished all 20 of them 2) Retaining wall (Non biodegradable boards) installed along the entire length of the straight (this was a must do by the city) 3) The removal/replacement of the old wall with a cement wall in front of the spectator’s stand (this was a must do by the city) 4) Installed the bollards at the track entrance (this was a must do by the city) 5) Six loads of dirt spread on the track 6) Software upgraded + new computer 7) Big-O lining and defining the hole track 8) Installed a removable wall where you come out of pit lane 9) 30 foot long pit lane upper board where the cars sit 10) The start finish loop wire was berried under the surface 11) Installed drainage channels under the track 12) Sod\turf planted 13) Moved the spectators stand
In all it was a very expensive year for the club and that’s not counting all the cost of running the Corcs race. All of this put the club deep in to the red
The beginning of the year was great. Turn out’s for races where great but by midseason Turn outs started dropping and after the corcs race people stop showing up for races This made the club remain in the red for the year. And is the main reasons that membership Fees are going to be raised for 2007 we have lots of members but not enough of The members are supporting racing and this is where we have raised the funds in the past to continually Upgrading the track over the years.
All in all we had a good year

Looking forward to 2007
The Coquitlam Area Model Racing Club (CAMRC) is excited to be bringing you another year of off road racing. Camrc is made up of a group of racers that want to provide racing and a place to race in the lower mainland. We are a non-profit organization that is not directly connected to any hobby shop. All fees go towards improving the race track.
At the end of the season meeting It was voted that we raise our membership fees
The new membership fees for 2007 will be
$40.00 for members (if you ware a member in 2006) $50.00 for new members Family memberships. Additional family member Only pays $10.00(uncles, auntie, nephews, nieces, cousins do not count this is only for immediate family members only) Membership fees go to pay for a group insurance that covers all Members and land usage fees to the city
We will be starting to take memberships in March or April
We will continue the free race coupon that we start last year Every member well receive this coupon when they sign up for there membership free race cards are good for any regular club race
Race fees will be the same
$10 for members $15 for nonmembers second class $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers Revenue from race fees goes to track maintenance and other operating costs for the year.
Race tech will be sponsoring our club one again this year with coupons For the top three finishers in each class that has 5 or more participants In it
1st place $15 coupon 2nd place $10 coupon 3rd place $5 coupon
The unofficial CamRC kamikaze Raceway Race Schedule for 2007 - Off Road
April 7 Season Opener Club Race April 21 Club Race May 12 Club Race May 26 Club Race June 9 Club Race June 23 Club Race July 7 Club Race July 21 Club Race July 28 Pocomo 500 August 3, 5 Trophy Race August 18 Club Race September 8 Club Race September 22 Club Race October 6, 7 Last "Race" OF THE YEAR?
Track times are still the same Tuesday 1:00 to dusk Friday 1:00 to dusk Saturday 12:00 to dusk Only members can use the track on these days do to insurance Other than race days
We our still trying to get more time from the city
The board elections are to be held some time in February
We are working on the 2007 club hand book and getting a New membership’s application form done and updating the website
The track has been a continuing evolution and we have attempted to build a track that is both technically challenging but not impossible and fun to drive So for 2007 the track layout will be redesigned Togo from left to right the layout has already bin a proved it’s a fast layout but with more then enough jumps to keep every one Happy lap times should be the same but they just mite go down a little Here are some things we would like to accomplish in 2007 1) Get the club back in the black 2) Track layout done before the season opener 3) A better track surface that’s not so dust when it dry 4) Fix railing on drivers stand 5) A lock box for shovels and racks at the track 6) Automatic sprinkler system (would like to installed by the end of the year) 7) A new pump for the sprinkler system
It’s going to take lots of work to get the area ready this year for racing. I was there checking up on the area and trees are down all over The place
All comments welcomed Looking forward to a great year Hope to see you all there

If the layout of the track is ready, then maybe a layout of the watering system can be determined. I dont know if I mentioned at the meeting in october (or whenever it was) but I have an "in" at a plumbing supply place. I just need to know what is needed so it can get priced out. Me and the kids are ready to start digging.

Sounds like the season is starting to come together. I will be at the meeting. We will need help if were going to change the track layout. Less dust sounds good. I could not see my truck on practice days in the summer. I will help with any construction supplies, as I work for LGI Industrial Supplies.

We talked about a new track layout at the season end meeting and everyone seemed to like the plan. The track is going to be a lot faster by having a side to side lane design...

Are the minutes from the AGM going to be posted? I'd like to know what's going on, since I was unable to attend.
I know that I was one of the people who dropped out from racing towards the second half of the season - unfortunately my job requires some pretty crazy hours at times, and late summer is about the worst time for that. I have my fingers crossed that this year will be better!
