Too funny, I turned down the augusta as it wouldn't fit my evo, well unless I cut the boom down to a 30 size, new belt etc etc, plus main blades to long....
well I made a deal for a nexus, which is a perfect fit in this shell. $115 with blades, a couple canopies an os 32 and pipe/manifold.
I traded a flash card from my broken vid cam for the shell, plus a couple other things kicking around.
the guy I have gotten a bunch of stuff from locally has a ton of servos, he might want something here (ok wishful thinking but my luck has been really good so far.....) the guy that has the heli also has a csm 540 gyro for sale for $65. I want that for my evo, and the csm 400 can go in the nexus inside the augusta. the best part is the piccolo was going to be going to buy the nexus and fuselage, now that changed. I really need a new radio, I want, no need, retracts.... will be a fun adventure doing a scale ship
can't tell I am pumped can ya? lol. what an awesome deal. Seb's going to work something out for a price to paint it for me. I liked the nexus, it is a mellow flight. not a 3d ship, perfect for the scale. wire drive tail so easy to lengthen/shorten to a fuselage...
the same guy has a twinstar fuse if any of you guys would be interested. brand new. trade him plane or heli stuff....

no prob. stupid lingo. we always speak in short form on the internet. retracts means retractable wheels. install the servos and mechanism to bring the wheels inside when you take off, and out to land.
looks too cool, just have to go all out on one. it's like model building with electronic goodies. the scale ship isn't for thrashing around.
(we also have been playing with a head mounted gyro to control 2 servos on board to operate the camera. when you move your head, the camera moves. fly from the male thingypit and look around lol)

a) Gyro - I think it's some kind of Greek food.
b) Meaning of Life - We have been placed on this Earth to play with RC helicopters and to spread the word to all mankind about the coolness of RC helis. (Don't let the heretic non believers tell you otherwise)
c) Babies - Come from those times when you take a break from flying or fixing your RC heli and meet your responsibility to produce future heli pilots.

hehe, but really, what are gyros?

It is a sensor that is used to adjust to the helicopter spinning. The main blades spinning causes torque which makes the main body of the helicopter to spin the opposite direction. The tail blades are to counter that but it changes in the amount of torque spin with different throttle levels. Without the gyro, you would have to really be controlling the tail with stick movements and would be very hard to fly (I tried to fly a micro with no gyro and smashed into everything in my house). The gyro is hooked between the tail servo and the rcvr. It "feels" when the heli is going to rotate away and makes an adjustment to the tail blades to keep the heli straight. There are a few different type of gyros out there from the old mechanical ones to the new digital heading hold units. The mechanical ones drew more power and required more mixing (done in the radio. you had to adjust them for throttle up to keep it from twising, and also for when you throttle down.... a real pain). Heading hold... put it where you want and it holds there. You will also here talk of normal mode and heading hold. Heading hold you have to steer the tail for everything. Better for beginners to learn to hover as it stays put, but harder for forward flight as you need to steer the tail. With normal mode, the tail kinda follows the main body in forwar flight. Most newer gyros have both built in for differnet flight modes but personally, since I started using heading hold, I can;t go back. Just way too easy. I started with a mechanical old school gyro and had to learn throttle mixing and **** and it was a bit overwhelming to learn by myself. Spent many a day playing with settings. the hh gyro was done in minutes.

Looking forward to the next time I can fly. I got the nexus/concept hybrid done today. it took some work getting the swash and head all working well since it was a mix of parts, I had some aligment fun. once I figured out what was up, it went back together well. well this nexus is capable of -11+11.5 with this setup. I will have to replace blade grips soon but I think I will put some better ones on like from the evo. I just need to get it flying and trimmed then off to the augusta shell it goes (thank god the orange and pink vertical and horizontal fins have to get cut off for the fuse yuk)
I moved electronics around in the evo. I don't have all digital but I do have futaba 9202 corless all around the collective (3) and a the hitec digital I just got for $40 ;D csm 540 gyro in the evo now and the 400 went into the nexus (fast bastard lent me an 811 digitial for the nexus). carbon main and tail blades on both. should be fun taking 2 helis to fly next time.

Shane and I went to do a little flying today. Got the evo up and going. just one thing to fix on nexus (2 screws too long) and it is done.
Saw Shane do his first flip. well okay it looked more like a spaghetti whip but he pulled it off without piling into the ground. I was sitting down when he just went over, and then it kinda went left. he pulled it off and out of a bad situation so power to the man!!!
