Hey Rog I found some cool sites that are totally chopper oriented... www.augustoheli.com/videos/videoarchive/default.asphas a ton of downloadable videos. runryder.com has a forum with just chopper guys and is a wealth of info. I was shown these by a fellow rc'er from the UK and wanted to pass it along you have to see curtis youngblood, he is at minimum a demigod

well I went to the field on pipeline road (I love that name haha) and I want to thank Phil, Phil, Mark and all that were there for the entertainment and help. Our own off road Phil tried to get my chopper running but the belt is wrong and it wouldn't get started. It was close. I don't know what to do now. Money is not abundant, and I know the top shaft starter thing is what I need but...
Hey guys, do you have a proper belt to start a Hirobo Shuttle there? If not can you order one in? I am going to wait until I have the proper part to try again. and also what would it cost to convert it to top shaft. I want to start flying so bad and this is killing me. I have everything I need but the wrong belt. even my starter will work for top shaft but...

We have some starter belts, but I don't know if they will work on your heli.

I will have to bring it out then. I am pulling the motor today to see what is up. Compression seems a little low too. I will bring it in to the shop after I check that out then, thanks.

I just got a gas heli, the Venture CP 30 - just a basic gas heli with a 35 engine. Waiting for a few servos before I can fly it. Man, is it ever huge beside my Electric Voyager. I'll get a picture of it beside the Voyager and the Hornet for comparison.

Too cool. I can't wait to see it. We are going to have to do some flying together someday. It sure us a lot harder getting all you need to get one of these up than I expected. I am close. I reduced my rc's some more and traded off to get a 46 size Sceadu Evolution (was too good a deal) so I am selling my shuttle to get the needed parts. After a lot of reading at runryder, I found out the Sceadu is supposed to be even easier to fly because of it's stability. So a heading hold gyro, a couple servos (I have a couple decent servos for collective and throttle allready) and a motor and I am up. I never found a belt for the shuttle so am trading that for a pull start 32 (shuttle had a 28, thought it was a 32). Phil was right, once you get into helis, the rest of rc seems kinda tame...

The heli is only $400 and its all Ball Bearing...and the engine is like $180. All that's left is radio gear. It should be cheaper than my 1/8 stale.....

What a great day flying on holiday Monday. Lots of gas choppers out as well as electric planes. Mike, Marc, Seb and Jason are all hovering pretty well. Marc's ready to do some forward zooming. Everyone improved quite noticably during the 5 hours we were at the flying field.
Got my gas heli converted to 3D setup now. Ready to try some invert stuff. Should be scary!

ya I think that chinese food made marc go a little nuts!! today was a great day at the fly field, I tried a little bit of forward flight at about 20 feet off the ground. that was nice and scary!!! on sunday hopefuly rodger will try some inverted fliing, no one in our little group has come even close to doing that so it should be exciting especially for rodger.

I went solo today and flew a tank on the nexus. that tank is huge, I get 40-45 minutes on a tank. I richened it so probably about 35 mins straight. I can hover forward and sideways, move around and land where I want and was doing a little forward flight today. It is too much fun. I have spent a lot of time on the G2 sim and then go to field. I actually like to fly the sim for 20 mins before I go to get the feel. Now I can take off with the nexus and get it into a solid hover right away.
I had one scare my first time up when the tail boom came loose and it shot up about 15-20 feet between trees (no drag and engine powered). It started to auto pirhouette but I got it down with no damage.
today I was flying with no trainer around to tell me, watch the throttle, ich etc etc and ws just me. I really had fun and confidence. Tomorrow I am starting my figure 8's as I can do a square pattern forward flight now, the banking sweeping turns of a figure 8 should be fun to try. That hula hoop is the best safety gear going.
It was suggested to me to get pontoons for forward flight because it is easier to track the proper direction of the chopper than the big yellow ring. I am going to get them anyway cuz that would be cool landing on water someday.....
